Terms of use

SplitWeb is a macOS app published by Mei Yang and distributed only through the Mac App Store. Downloading or using it means you accept these terms, which sit alongside Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement.

Last updated 16 August 2026.

The free trial

SplitWeb is free to download and runs fully unlocked for 14 days from first launch. The trial is counted by the app on your own Mac; it needs no payment details and converts to nothing automatically. When the 14 days are up, your board is kept exactly as you left it and a purchase card appears over it; choosing a plan unlocks the same app again. There is no reduced free tier in the meantime.

Plans

  • Monthly — US$4.99 per month, renewing automatically.
  • Yearly — US$39.99 per year, renewing automatically.
  • Lifetime — US$79.99 once, no recurring charge.

Prices are shown in US dollars. Apple sets the equivalent price and any tax in each storefront, and the App Store shows you the exact amount in your currency before you confirm. Prices may change for future purchases; a change never alters what you have already paid, and Apple notifies existing subscribers of a price increase and asks for consent where its rules require it.

Auto-renewal, and how to stop it

  • A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
  • You can manage or cancel a subscription in App Store account settings — on macOS, App Store ▸ Account Settings ▸ Subscriptions. We cannot cancel it for you.
  • Cancelling stops future renewals. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Lifetime purchases

Lifetime is a one-time, non-consumable purchase tied to the Apple Account that bought it. It unlocks SplitWeb for macOS permanently for that account, including future updates to the app, and it is restored with Restore Purchases on another Mac. It is not a subscription and is never charged again. It does not entitle you to a different product should one ever exist.

If you bought SplitWeb before it became free

SplitWeb was previously a paid download. If you bought it then, you keep full access at no further cost. The app detects this from your original App Store purchase record and unlocks itself — you do not need to subscribe, and you do not need to do anything.

Payment and refunds

Apple is the seller of record for every purchase. We never see your payment details. All refunds are handled by Apple under App Store terms, not by us, and we have no ability to issue or refuse one. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.

What the app does, and what it does not

SplitWeb tiles live web pages and crops each pane to a region you choose. Three limits are part of the design rather than faults, and they apply on every plan:

  • A cropped pane is read-only — clicks pass through it. Turn the crop off to interact.
  • Each pane holds its own live web view, so memory use climbs as you add panes.
  • It is not a browser replacement: no extensions, no bookmark sync, no tab management.

Your responsibility for the sites you open

SplitWeb loads whatever pages you point it at, using your own accounts and credentials. You are responsible for having the right to access those sites and for complying with their terms. We have no relationship with them, no control over what they serve, and no involvement in your account with them. If a site changes, breaks or blocks something, that is between you and that site.

If you route a pane through a proxy, that proxy is yours. We neither operate nor endorse any proxy service.

Availability and changes

We may update SplitWeb, and features may be added, changed or removed as the app develops and as macOS and the web change around it. We do not promise any specific future feature. If the app is ever withdrawn from sale, active subscriptions will not be renewed beyond the period already paid for.

Warranty and liability

SplitWeb is provided as is. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranty that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any particular website will work inside it. Nothing here limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law in your country, and nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury or fraud.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the revised terms.
